Afia Schwarzenegger Slams Ashanti King Over Pardoning of Chairman Wontumi

Controversial Ghanaian comedienne, Afia Schwarzenegger, has taken a swipe at the Ashanti King, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, following his pardoning of Chairman Wontumi, in a move that has stirred up controversy. The outspoken entertainer made her sentiments known in a recent live video on TikTok, where she accused the revered king of being incapable of driving development in the Ashanti region.

According to Schwarzenegger, despite the Ashantis’ belief in the power of their monarch, he has failed to initiate substantial development in the region. She characterized the king as being “quiet,” and accused him of blindly following the government’s tune.

Further expressing her disappointment, Schwarzenegger revealed that she feels embarrassed to identify as an Ashanti, given the current state of affairs.

The root of her criticism remains unclear, but observers speculate that her discontent stems from the recent release of Chairman Wontumi, who was previously accused of disrespecting Otumfour by claiming to hold more political power than him.

Schwarzenegger and Chairman Wontumi share a tumultuous history, with the latter having previously taken the former to court. Fans speculate that Schwarzenegger may still harbor resentment towards Wontumi and might have expected Otumfour to exact revenge on her behalf.
