AY Poyoo’s Contract With Aborga Records Terminated

Ghanaian musician AY Poyoo, known for his viral hits, has officially ended his contract with record label Aborga Records, owned by Alfred Aborga. The termination of the contract was effective from January 1st, 2023, but was only made public on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

The split was due to a series of disagreements and differing visions between the artist and the label. AY Poyoo wanted to focus on international travel, pursuing other job opportunities, and independent ventures outside of the label’s management. He also advocated for a return to his “Original Poyoo” branding, diverging from the label’s strategy. Unable to reach a mutual agreement, the contract was terminated.

According to the contract terms, Aborga Records will retain ownership of all songs produced under the agreement and will recoup their investment of Twenty Thousand, Six Hundred and Twenty-Two Ghana Cedis from the songs they own.

However, as a goodwill gesture, the label has agreed to transfer all streaming earnings to AY Poyoo once the recoup process is complete. AY Poyoo expressed regret over the situation, acknowledging his lack of expertise in the entertainment industry while announcing the news to his fans.
