“Before i came into the rap game there were alot of ‘jons’- Sarkodie

Award-winning Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has released a new single titled “Brag” at midnight on May 10.

He had teased the single artwork on social media the day before with the caption “New music midnight #BRAG #TheChampionshipMixtape.”

The 2-minute 30-second track has already gained thousands of plays on streaming platforms like Audiomack and Spotify.

In the song, Sarkodie talks about his achievements and declares that his only real competition is American rappers like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole, rather than any African rapper or musician.

Some listeners found his comment about the previous generation of rappers being ‘jons’ to be disrespectful.

Sarkodie is also set to release a new mixtape called “The Championship Mixtape” exclusively for his fanbase, Sarknation, on May 24, though it may come sooner.

He decided to create and release the mixtape as a surprise gift for his loyal fans.

Fans have been eagerly anticipating new music from Sarkodie since he was named Artist of the Decade at the Ghana Music Awards.

His last project was the November 2021 album “Jamz,” which was followed by successful singles.
