The highly esteemed and revered symbol of the Asante Kingdom, the Golden Stool, also known as ‘Sika Dwa Kofi’, was unveiled on Sunday, May 12, 2024.

This rare appearance marked the culmination of the splendid durbar held to commemorate the silver jubilee of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The event coincided with the Akwasidae festival, a significant celebration in the Asante calendar. To facilitate movement within the Manhyia palace, some routes leading to the palace were closed off.

In honor of the King’s achievements, dignitaries were encouraged to dress in gold and white attire or traditional clothing.

The event was attended by thousands of well-wishers, government officials including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and foreign dignitaries.

Legend has it that the Golden Stool was miraculously summoned from the heavens by the revered Asante priest, Okomfo Anokye, and is believed to embody the essence and essence of the Asante kingdom.
