Ghana government gives $400 to each Black star supporter after they threatened to boycott the team.

According to reports, the Ghanaian government compensated some fans who were taken to the Ivory Coast for the 2023 AFCON with $400.

These fans had threatened to return home due to the lack of cooperation and assistance from the organizing bodies. Over 300 fans had traveled to the Ivory Coast to support the Black Stars but felt neglected.

In response, officials met with the disgruntled fans and paid them to stay in the Ivory Coast and continue supporting the national team.

A journalist, speaking anonymously, mentioned that the fans received the compensation after the story broke, but it is unclear if this payment is for the entire tournament.

The Black Stars had a disappointing start to the AFCON, losing to Cape Verde. Despite a goal from Alexandre Djiku, Cape Verde scored a late winner, taking advantage of a defensive error.

The Black Stars have only won one of their last six games and will face Egypt in their second group game.
