I met my husband in 2005 right after SHS, it was love at first sight – Lilian Kumah

Apostle Mrs Lilian Kumah, the widow of the late Dr. John Kumah, recently shared a touching revelation during an interview. She recounted the fateful meeting that sparked a love story lasting almost two decades.

Lilian reminisced about the moment she first met her late husband in 2005 on Mallam Road in Accra. She had just completed Senior High School and was on her way to work when she dropped her money, which John gallantly retrieved for her from the gutter.

This simple act of kindness led to a conversation over plantain chips, where they bonded and shared a snack despite Lilian having limited funds. Their connection deepened, and Johnny visited Lilian at her friend’s home the following Sunday, expressing his intentions clearly.

Despite no grand gestures or elaborate courtship, they got married exactly one year after their initial meeting. Their love story transcended time and defied convention, with Johnny becoming not just Lilian’s husband but also her mentor and unwavering companion.

Their bond endured through life’s ups and downs, long before Johnny’s foray into politics. Lilian affectionately recalled their journey together, from before Johnny’s political career to his first appointment under Hon Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen.

Their love story, born out of a chance encounter, blossomed into a lasting partnership that sadly came to an end with John Kumah’s passing on March 7th, 2023, leaving behind six children with Lilian.
