In a statement released on Tuesday, April 30, 2023, Ms Nelson expressed her disappointment at the return of such a challenging issue, especially for such a prolonged period.

She stressed the importance of united action, saying, “By joining forces, we can make our voices heard and push our leaders to prioritize the needs of the Ghanaian people.”

Ms Nelson invited concerned citizens to join her in planning the vigil, highlighting the strength of unity in bringing about change.

She also called on lawyers, volunteers, and others to lend their expertise and support in organizing the event, acknowledging that she cannot do it alone.

While she had previously asked IMANI Africa to join her in protesting against the government over the power outages, IMANI’s President, Franklin Cudjoe, stated that they would conduct their protest on their own terms.

Despite this, Mr Cudjoe confirmed that IMANI was prepared to protest against the ongoing dumsor crisis, inviting others to organize their own demonstrations as well.
