“It’s Expensive To Live Here, We’re can’t save money”– Ghanaian Women In Canada

Two Ghanaian women residing in Canada, Anita, and Martha, have shared their experiences regarding the high cost of rent in Vancouver.

During an interview with a vlogger, they revealed that they each pay $2,500 and 2,200 Canadian Dollars for rent, respectively.

As accountants, they expressed how a significant portion of their monthly income is allocated towards rent.

They lamented the fact that saving money is nearly impossible in Vancouver, as most of their earnings are spent on rent, groceries, and other expenses.

Moreover, Anita and Martha highlighted the cultural differences they have observed between Ghana and Vancouver.

They mentioned that people in Vancouver are not as friendly as those back home in Ghana, where random interactions with strangers often involve smiles.

In contrast, they noted that individuals in Vancouver seem preoccupied with their own tasks and do not have the same willingness to engage in friendly interactions with others.

Overall, Anita and Martha’s accounts shed light on the financial challenges faced by many individuals living in Vancouver, particularly in terms of the exorbitant cost of rent.

Additionally, their observations regarding cultural differences underscore the adjustments that immigrants may need to make when adapting to life in a new country.
