“Jane” cheated on me with Mr. Drew- Lord Paper reveals inspiration behind new song

Ghanaian Afrobeats artist Lord Paper, also known as Michael Takyi-Frimpong, recently shared that his song “Jane” from his EP “Something Something” was inspired by a past relationship with a woman named Jane who he claims was unfaithful to him with fellow musician Mr. Drew.

The singer expressed that he believes he is not as successful as he could be because Jane chose a more popular and successful musician like Mr. Drew over him.

Despite this, Lord Paper stated that he discovered the truth in October last year and remains on good terms with Mr. Drew, who was unaware of Jane’s relationship with him.

During a recent appearance on the GTV breakfast show to promote his EP, Lord Paper explained that his songs like “Sika Duro” and “Dzigbordi” were often misunderstood as they tell stories that are not necessarily true.

“Sika Duro” is about killing his blood brother for money, while “Dzigbordi” touches on love and tribalism. Lord Paper clarified that these songs were simply narratives and not reflective of his personal life.

The EP includes tracks like “Fighting Spirit,” “Mistake,” “Kofi Junior,” and “Jane.”

Despite the challenges he has faced, Lord Paper shared that these experiences have motivated him to work even harder towards his music career.
