John Dramani Mahama

“My major problem when i was president was because i was too honest with Ghanaians” – Mahama

He stated that he was transparent with the people of Ghana during his presidency, but accused the Akufo-Addo administration of not being honest about the power cuts affecting parts of the country.

According to him, the government is failing to acknowledge the challenges and the need for a load-shedding timetable due to erratic power supply, known as Dumsor.

Speaking during his “Building Ghana We Want” Tour in the Upper West region, Mr. Mahama emphasized the importance of being truthful with the citizens, even when things are not going well.

He highlighted issues with power generation assets being down, difficulties in paying for gas and fuel, leading to daily power shedding of 280 to 480 megawatts.

Despite the government’s refusal to provide a schedule for the outages, he asserted that the situation is indeed Dumsor, as Ghanaians are familiar with the term.

He criticized the administration for not admitting the reality of the power cuts and urged them to be transparent with the public about the challenges they are facing.
