No lives were lost due to ‘Dumsor’ – Tema Gen. Hospital debunks reports

The management of Tema General Hospital has refuted claims that a child died as a result of a power outage at their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

In a statement issued by Dr. Richard Anthony, the Medical Director of the hospital, it was confirmed that there was indeed a power cut at the facility. The emergency power plant also experienced a technical issue, which required the attention of electricians to restore power.

It was reported that it took approximately two hours for the electricians to fix the power plant and restore electricity to the hospital. This incident was captured on video and circulated on social media, leading to speculations and rumors about a child’s death due to the power outage.

Dr. Anthony clarified that there was no truth to these claims and reassured the public that all necessary measures were taken to ensure the safety and well-being of the patients at the NICU during the power outage.

The hospital used the statement as an opportunity to dispel any misinformation surrounding the incident and emphasized that no lives were lost as a result of the temporary power cut.
