(Oh Ghana) Dumsor hits Tema General Hospital as babies on oxygen struggle to stay alive (Video)

A distressing video circulating on social media depicts a heartbreaking scene at Tema General Hospital, where a complete power outage has plunged the facility into darkness.

The footage, which has stirred up strong emotions, captures the sounds of crying babies on oxygen, seemingly pleading for help. It has been revealed that a number of newborn infants, some of whom are critically ill and in need of incubators and ventilators, are now facing a dire situation due to the blackout.

A nurse can be heard in the background of the video, expressing the gravity of the situation. She explains that there is a shortage of extra-flow meters to connect to the oxygen supply, exacerbating the already precarious circumstances. The nurse’s voice quivers with emotion as she warns that without power being restored soon, there is a high likelihood that many of the infants may not survive.

Regrettably, Tema General Hospital relies solely on the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) for power, with no backup generator in place for emergencies. This lack of contingency planning has put the lives of these vulnerable newborns at risk, highlighting the urgent need for improved infrastructure and resources in healthcare facilities.
