Otumfuo Osei Tutu

Otumfuo Osei Tutu discloses that his father was a relentless womanizer.

During his 74th birthday celebration on Monday, May 6, 2024, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II shared a personal story about his family history.

He revealed that his mother had considered leaving his father before he was born due to his father’s reputation as a womanizer.

However, his Uncle convinced her to stay in the marriage, insisting that something special would come from it.

When Otumfuo was born, his mother eventually left his father as she had planned. His Uncle then took him out of the Palace to live with a relative, who Otumfuo had always believed was his older brother until recently.

His mother would visit them occasionally, treating Otumfuo as if he were her nephew rather than her son. Despite being royalty,

Otumfuo was not introduced as such by his mother.

Growing up, Otumfuo was not allowed to attend Prempeh College as originally planned. Instead, he was sent to Sefwi for his education, where he was under the care of strict relatives who could discipline him.

Even when he went to Tertiary, he continued to be monitored closely by his family.

Otumfuo acknowledged that his Uncle saw potential in him and ensured that he was guided and disciplined to live up to expectations.

This upbringing played a crucial role in shaping Otumfuo into the leader he is today.
