See Beautiful Photos of The Children Of Asantehene As They Celebrate Akwasidae

The final Sunday of March was significant as it marked the Akwasidae customary rites for the Asante King, also known as Asantehene, in which he honored his ancestors and received homage from his subjects at Manhyia Kumasi.

During this occasion, the King’s immediate family, including his wife and children, made a rare appearance to pay their respects and celebrate with him.

This was an unusual sight as the King’s family members are typically kept out of the public eye, particularly his biological children.

His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has four children: Nana Opoku Ware, Nana Afua Kobi, Nana Mensah Bonsu, and Nana Kyeretwie.

The King’s wife, Her Royal Highness Lady Julia, is also occasionally seen in public either alongside her husband or on her own with assistants.

Their children are named after notable Ashanti figures, hinting at a possible public unveiling of long-held traditions by the royal household during the King’s silver jubilee year.

This rare glimpse into the King’s personal life and his family’s involvement in the Akwasidae rites adds a layer of significance to the event.
