Kwaku Bediako is the esteemed Founder and Group Executive Chairman of the CH Group of Companies, based in Accra, Ghana. He is a wealthy individual and the biological brother of the leader of the New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar or Freedom Jacob Caesar.

Goldkey Properties, a real estate company, has been awarded the contract to construct the highly debated $250 million Bank of Ghana’s new headquarters.

Mr. Bediako has an extensive portfolio of properties available for sale and rent in highly sought-after areas of Accra. These prime locations include Cantonments, Airport Residential Area, Ridge, Labone, East Legon, and Abelemkpe.

During his childhood, Mr. Bediako’s father wanted him to focus on science courses, but he had a different perspective. While studying at Mfantsipim School, he intentionally underperformed and received E and F grades in those subjects.

“My father and I had a falling out and didn’t speak for two years because of it,” he shared with Lexis Bill on Personality Profile last Thursday. “I experienced a great deal of discomfort and found myself losing focus.”

Over two decades later, the CH Group Foundation, the philanthropic arm of his business, made a generous contribution of $100,000 to the Ghana Covid-19 Private Sector Fund.

The donation aims to support the finalization of Ghana’s inaugural infectious disease isolation and treatment facility, which will be equipped with a total of 100 beds.

Mr. Bediako and his team generously decided to provide meals to those in need during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic. Their efforts were incredibly successful, as they were able to serve a remarkable 150,000 meals across the country.

After a few weeks had passed since the outbreak, news broke that CH Group had decided to make a substantial donation towards the construction of a facility aimed at bolstering the ongoing battle against Covid-19.

Kwame, a dedicated husband and father of three children, has triumphed over numerous challenges on his path to becoming a highly accomplished entrepreneur in his industry. He describes the impact of his parent’s divorce on him.

“I haven’t laid eyes on my mother in a decade,” he recounted. My father took on the role of both my mother and father.

He recognized that despite having a strong bond with his father, his struggles with the divorce and declining academic performance strained their relationship, leading him to associate with negative influences.

Upon hearing that his son was struggling academically, Mr. Bediako’s father decided to bring him into the family business in the oil sector. This marked the beginning of Kwaku Bediako’s successful career.

In 1997, he established Chase Petroleum, a prominent player in the oil trading and bulk distribution industry.

After a couple of years, he ventured into the real estate industry and founded Goldkey Properties, a prestigious development and management company focused on constructing high-end residential and commercial properties in prime areas throughout Accra.

Currently, Mr. Bediako’s company manages a total of eight subsidiaries in Ghana, which include Tema Tank Firm Limited, Chase Petroleum, and Barton Homes.

He considers choosing to specialize in a specific industry in business as the most significant challenge he has overcome so far.

“There was a lot happening when the success arrived,” he said. “I used to work in the oil industry, which was quite lucrative.” I found myself at a crossroads, contemplating between indulging in a lavish lifestyle filled with flashy cars, pursuing romantic endeavors, and embracing a carefree attitude, or adopting a more reserved approach and focusing on making wise investments.

He opted for the second option, even though he acknowledges that it was difficult to accumulate the amount of money he earned at such a young age. “Mistakes can be easily made,” he added.

According to Mr Bediako, a significant factor in his success is his relentless pursuit of personal growth. If I don’t keep moving, I’ll go under. He revealed, “That is what motivates me to keep moving forward.”

In addition, he suggests that achieving success is a result of gradually establishing trust with others.

“I had the opportunity to exploit others, but I chose not to.” Being dishonest will inevitably have consequences, so I always consider the broader perspective.

With a keen eye for the larger perspective, he has consistently found success. Embrace a grand vision. Stay focused on the important things and you will achieve great success.
