“We don’t support Bongo Ideas, He doesn’t take our advise” – Family of Bongo Ideas speaks.

Just three days ago, the well-known Ghanaian blogger and political critic, Bongo Ideas, was taken from his home in a dramatic abduction. A group of muscular men claiming to be policemen forcibly removed him from his residence at dawn. The family of the outspoken blogger tried to intervene, but the men refused to allow them access to their vehicle and sped off, leaving the family in distress.

The family quickly turned to social media for help, urging the public to assist in locating Bongo Ideas. They first searched various police stations in Accra, but he was not found in any of them. The Ghana Police Service and National Security later released statements denying any involvement in the blogger’s disappearance, stating that they had not arrested or invited him for questioning.

Thankfully, Bongo Ideas eventually returned home after the harrowing ordeal. In an interview with Angel FM, his sister, Nana Yaa, disclosed that they do not always agree with his controversial posts on social media. She explained that they had repeatedly advised him to refrain from sharing contentious opinions online, but he had disregarded their advice.

Nana Yaa also mentioned that Bongo Ideas had suffered brutal torture during his abduction and would be seeking medical attention. The incident has raised concerns about freedom of expression and safety for critics in Ghana.
