Wontumi’s attacks on Naana Jane disgraceful – NDC female MPs

Female members of the Minority Caucus in Parliament have strongly criticized the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Benard Antwi Boasiako, for his recent attacks on Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

They believe that these attacks demonstrate a complete lack of respect for women, something that should not be tolerated in Ghana’s evolving democracy.

The female parliamentarians view the disparaging remarks made by Chairman Wontumi as shameful and unacceptable. They argue that for a woman as accomplished and respected as Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang to be subjected to such derogatory comments is disgraceful. In a country striving for gender equality and empowerment, it is essential to condemn such behavior and hold individuals accountable for their actions.

During a broadcast on Wontumi Radio, Chairman Wontumi alleged that former President John Dramani Mahama had a romantic relationship with Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, insinuating that this influenced her selection as the NDC’s running mate. Additionally, he claimed that she is not originally from Cape Coast, contrary to popular belief.

The female members of the Minority Caucus are firm in their stance against such baseless attacks on women in politics. They believe that it is essential to uphold the dignity and respect of all individuals, regardless of their gender, especially in the realm of political discourse. It is crucial to foster an environment of inclusivity and mutual respect in order to promote a healthy and democratic society.
